Day 83: Clean and Press

We are now taking the clean overhead with the clean and press.

The clean press is fantastic because it’s a great movement by itself, but also a really good progression to the snatch, AND, sidebar, it will prepare you for our day 90 movement - the thruster.

Use: a kettlebell, a dumbbell, a sandbag, a ruck (backpack), or be creative.

Time Domain

  • EMO2M: Each round…

    • 5 clean & press on the left (or your individual weaker side)

    • 5 clean & press on the right

    • Rest the remainder of the minute + one additional minute

  • 3 rounds, 00:00, 02:00, 04:00

Workout Level Suggestions

  • Level 1: Kettlebell/dumbbell DEAD cleans to press

  • Level 2: Dumbbell SWING cleans (or another handled load) to press

  • Level 3: Kettlebell SWING clean to press

*** You are welcome to try BOTH dead cleans and swing cleans. The “roll” happens easiest during the dead clean, so if you're good with the swing but smash your wrist on swing cleans, consider trying dead cleans and perfect those first.

Coaches Plan

I am just going to clean the 16kg bells with attention to perfect clean form.

Resources - How to

Always remember, the load instrument does not matter - kettlebells, sandbags, dumbbells … Just note it.
