Finding a Trail Marathon in Portugal

Finding myself in Lisbon, Portugal for NomadX, an entrepreneurial-in-residence program for digital nomads, I wanted to add some kind of interesting running event to my overall experience in the country.

I found one.

TNLO 42KM Trail Championships, Obidos, Portugal

70KM north of Lisbon is a community surrounded by an ancient castle. A community of apple orchards, grape vineyards, and incredible history; ...and steep hills, technical terrain, and an annual trail marathon that begins, and ends, in the castle streets, with 42 KM in between of some seriously challenging trail running.

Having run hundreds of races, and many marathons, this event was hands-down the most challenging trail marathon I have ever attempted.
